Inaugural FM Summit launch from BIFM in Dublin
Wednesday, 10th June 2015 marked World Facilities Management Day 2015, and celebrated the outstanding work of facilities management (FM) professionals across the globe. Coinciding with the day was the formal launch of the inaugural FM Summit from the BIFM Ireland Region, which will be held on Friday, 20th November 2015 at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
The announcement of the summit coincided with a recent study carried out by BIFM Ireland which revealed that almost 80% of those surveyed believed that more people in Ireland are now choosing FM as a career. While this is very much a positive stat, almost half of those surveyed still thought that the economy was the main barrier or obstacle that would hamper the success of their business over the next 12 months* – with this in mind the summit’s organisers, the Ireland Region of the professional body for facilities management, BIFM, decided on the core theme of ‘Innovation in FM, Delivering The Impossible’ and promises to offer exhibitors and delegates an inspiring range of speakers and networking opportunities.
Hosted by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin, the summit will serve as a vibrant platform for business and facilities management professionals to exchange knowledge, information and ideas on the many facets of one of Ireland’s fastest growing professions investigating how FM impacts various business sectors. The event, which is sponsored by Aramark and OCS, is designed to provide a forum for sharing ideas and enabling professionals to spur their respective organisations to greater success through strategic facilities management.
The aim is to enable business owners and managers to better understand how strategic facilities management can unleash productivity and enable the core business operations alongside saving them money and allowing them to focus on their core business operations.
Launching the conference, Stephen Welch, Chair, BIFM Ireland Region said, “Facilities management still remains one of the fastest growing professions in the UK and Ireland; valued at over £111 billion this important industry plays an all-important role in supporting businesses across all facets of the economy. With a recent economic turnaround for many companies, it is extremely important that all businesses look to drive forward efficiency and continue to streamline their processes to ensure best value and customer satisfaction and to encourage a continuation of growth. The BIFM Ireland Region FM Summit 2015 not only highlights best practice within the industry but also gives us an opportunity to hear from a diverse range of speakers who will inform, engage and inspire on an array of relevant topics”.
Derry Robertson, General Manager of Aramark said, “We are all very much looking forward to the first ever Dublin based BIFM Ireland Summit. As a leading integrated services supplier, we are focused on delivering the highest standard of facilities management to our clients. I know that the BIFM Ireland committee has been working hard to bring together a line-up of speakers and sessions that will educate and motivate us all.”
Event sponsor, Aine Mulcahy, Managing Director, OCS Group Ireland said, “As an international TFM business with a footprint in over 40 countries and a turnover of £1 billion we provide a range of property support services and have seen first-hand the major changes that our industry has undergone in recent years. More and more organisations are realising the impact that effective management of their facilities can have, both in terms of value and increasing efficiency. This conference is an opportunity for not just FM professionals, but all businesses, and it is about highlighting the impact of FM and engaging with other business sectors to better understand their needs and respond to them.”
