Toasting jobs well done in 2016!

January 3rd, 2017

It has been a busy but great year for Massive and as we brace ourselves for 2017, we think it’s only right to look back at some of our best moments and  celebrate some highlights from 2016…

 An award-winning year

We joined over 250 of our PR peers at the Culloden Hotel for the annual CIPR PRide Awards to celebrate the industry and all its achievements throughout 2016. After a year of hard work our small but mighty team scooped up the award for Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy, proving that good things do come in small packages. We were also delighted to return home with a Silver Award for NI’s favourite independent coffee chain Ground Espresso Bars and their good work on the Honduras Project and were finalists in the category of Best Use of Media Relations with our work launching Vita Coco Coconut Oil to market in Northern Ireland.

A NI Year of Food and Drink

Getting into the spirit of Tourism Northern Ireland’s NI Year of Food and Drink 2016, we delivered a range of delicious campaigns for hospitality organisations and gourmet events alike. Catering to all tastes from chocolate to seafood, memorable moments from our foodie events included;

  • Hillsborough International Oyster Festival: This long-standing food festival returned with its vibrant bill-of-fare including the Turkish Airlines World Oyster Eating Championship which saw the dethronement of 11-year Oyster King, Colin Shirlow by US competitor Michelle Lesco. We’re looking forward to next year’s rematch!
  • Finnebrogue Artisan Hans Sloane Chocolate & Fine Food Festival: Fulfilling the dreams of our office chocoholics, this two-day chocolate extravaganza attracted visitors from across the world for a cocoa-fuelled weekend of activities and gorging.
  • Food Fairs Galore: Villages throughout NI jumped on board for the Year of Food and Drink to show their flair for local cuisine. The Speciality Food Fair Moira and Hillsborough Farmers’ Markets brought communities outdoors to browse and buy from neighbourhood producers as a local alternative to seasonal shopping.
  • Lisburn & Castlereagh’s Treat Week: Acknowledging that great food can be found right across Northern Ireland and not just in our capital, our team was delighted to join Treat Week organisers and fly the flag for the outstanding eateries, restaurants, pubs and producers located within the Lisburn & Castlereagh Council area.

We also had our fill of helping to bring new eateries and menus to the NI dining scene including The Plough Group in Hillsborough’s new all-in-one restaurant, bar and food hall, The Vintage Rooms, much to the excitement of cocktail-lovers and adventurous eaters across the province, and continuing to raise awareness of Belfast’s only Hawaiian-inspired eatery Kua ‘Aina as they rode their wave of popularity into their second year of business.

Celebrating Innovation

We had the pleasure of working on campaigns across a range of sectors that celebrated innovation at its finest. In a year shaken by seismic political shifts, the BIFM Ireland Facilities Management Summit at Croke Park brought together industry professionals to stabilise perceptions and encourage strides in other areas like environmentally-friendly FM. This green innovation was also prevalent in Grant Engineering’s revolutionary product launch of the VortexAir Hybrid leaving us excited about the sustainable strides set to be made in 2017. We also worked with Action Renewables and Vayu Energy to help local businesses learn more about how they could benefit from renewable electricity at November’s ‘Revenue For Renewables’ event, which saw nearly 100 local businesses in attendance as they learned how to get the most from renewable electricity generated through their own installations.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Team Massive, and none our highlights would have been possible without our wonderful clients, media friends and suppliers! Thank you for your continued support and we wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2017!
